From picking up a recorder age four, studing singing and wanting to become an opera singer to learning to beatbox on my flute, my journey in music so far has been a varied rollercoaster ride of joy, struggles and learning to believe in myself. Above all, it's enabled me become a musician who is no longer afraid to forge my own path and create my own style. As a flutist, composer, educator, producer and sound practitioner, I am now passionate about connecting with music and sound in an expressive and meaningful way, and sharing this with the world.

As an artist, I write, record and produce arrangements and original music using the flute, electronics and virtual instruments in a variety of genres, but primarily blending classical and rock. I love to explore the wider capabilities of the flute, using traditional playing alongside extended techniques such as singing and playing, pitch bending and beatboxing, and I'm one of very few players using a glissando (slide) headjoint designed by legendary flute player Robert Dick. I have performed a number of recitals and at private events including at Beverley Minster, Allegro Appassionato in Louth, for Age Uk Hull and Hull CVS. I am 1st flute in the Eclectic Orchestra based in Hull who headlined Uk Pride in 2017 and who regularly perform at Hull Minster and I am leader of the flute section of the Eclectic Wind Orchestra. Having previously studied music technology, I began arranging and producing her own covers of some of her favourite music during the covid pandemic as a way to develop her skills and began releasing the on her Youtube channel. This led me to begin composing and producing her own original music, releasing my first single Stand Out on Bandcamp in March 2021. In April 2022 my original track Within the Void was featured on BBC Radio Humberside Introducing and I went on to compose and produce two original pieces for Humber Street Gallery as part of the Inter_change programme run by Absolutely Cultured, one of which was performed live in the gallery space. Later in 2024 I will be working with renowned sound artist Pheobe Law on a piece commissioned by the Hull Jazz Festival, to be performed in Hull in November.

Since the pandemic, I have been exploring new ways to reach people with music. Every Sunday on my Youtube channel you will find the weekly livestream show Flutifull Time, a request show with a difference! As well as playing your favourite tunes from a whole range of genres, it's a space to chat about all things musical and share thoughts on things of interest, including my hometown of Hull in East Yorkshire and her favourite beverage - Yorkshire tea! I began Flutifull Time in 2020 at a time when much of the world was in lockdown. It has quickly grown into a wonderful community who enjoy random chatter and value the sharing of live music.

After graduating from The University of Hull in 2004 with a first class degree in music, my career has included teaching in a number of private and state schools, for the Yorkshire Young Musicians project and, as of 2022, as a flute teacher at The University of Hull. In 2024  led the Wired music technology workshops in Beverley for the Yorkshire Sound Women’s Network. I am a music theory examiner for Trinity College, London and an associate of Eclectic Music, Hull's new centre for music tuition and performance, and on the education team of the British Flute Society for which I regularly write reviews for their quarterly Pan magazine.

In 2022 I established SolarBeat productions as a way to offer recording, composing and production services from my home studio, and I have since enjoyed working with clients from all over the world on projects including composing and producing a scene from an independent film in the US to chants for an English language school in Spain.

Having completed a sound therapy practitioner course with UK Holistic Training in early 2024, my latest venture sees me working with harpist Stephanie Halsey and together they have formed Meridian music & sound which aims to bring sonic experiences to those looking for respite from the hectic pace of modern life. Together, we are looking forward to offering sound baths, immersive musical experiences and workshops demonstrating the wonderful benefits of music & sound.

I am a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and I holds a full enhanced DBS check (available to see on request). I am also a qualified first aider with St John Ambulance.
